One of my readers have asked for an update to my blog (hi Craig! :-)).
In my previous post, I started going to the gym with our next door neighbour and my roommate. We have still been going and everything is going really well. Teresa found out about a promo that CBC is doing with the YMCA across Ontario to promote a healthy lifestyle. The CBC is giving out free 2-week passes to people who are not members at the Y. Teresa and I went and we submitted our passes! So, the woman at the front desk explained that we will get a meeting with a personal trainer to get us started in hopes that we will buy a membership. I was super pumped to get started and have someone help me!
Well, I went to my meeting (which was last Monday) and when I got there the trainer explained that she couldn't help me because I wasn't a member yet. I was so disappointed! I explained my situation, and how I was trying to lose weight and my goals for that. She decided to help me get started on what I should be doing for a work-out. She had me start on 3 machines and to do 30 minutes of cardio along with stretches at the end. It was okay, but I was expecting so much more. I was really depressed and felt like what I was trying to do is unattainable.
Since then, I have been doing my work-outs and it's been great. I guess I was expecting the personal trainer to be a cheerleader...when in reality they are not. Tomorrow my 2-week free pass is done, I will be going to buy my membership and hopefully book another appointment with a trainer. I might ask for someone else, since I don't know if I want the same one...
So far I haven't really lost too much weight. The first week of working out I lost 4 pounds, and my scale is basically telling me that I didn't lose any last week. I'm hoping that I will be able to lose a couple more pounds this week (I've been trying to stay off the scale through the week and only weigh myself once a week). Fridays are my weigh-in days; I will provide updates on weeks that I have good weight loss.
This week, I was shocked with the sudden death of a high school friend. She was only 29 years old and from what I have heard she died of a heart attack. Sending my love and prayers to her family. In times like these, you really cherish what you have and realise that every day is a gift.
